Hypo stavební spořitelna was one of six building societies operating on the Czech market. As part of its strategy for the Czech market, the UniCredit Group has decided to focus on its traditional corporate and private banking services and to divest from the building society business. Before the transaction, Hypo stavební spořitelna had over 420,000 building savings contracts and reported a net profit of 132 million Czech crowns.
Raiffeisen stavební spořitelna, a member of the Raiffeisen Bank Group, has been operating in the Czech building savings market since 1993 and registers over 600,000 building savings contracts. The acquisition and subsequent merger of the two companies created the third largest building society on the market.
The founding partner of Merger Vision led the advisory team providing M&A advisory services to the selling bank and organised an international sale process for it with the participation of investors from the banking sector.
